Age of Conan: Unchained & Free to Play

First things first, there's been a fair amount of new content added to Age of Conan including the new Unchained addition. But the real exciting news from Funcom is regarding the status of payment for Age of Conan. AoC has adopted the free-to-play system that a lot of MMORPGs have been picking up (since Blizzard still seems to dominate that market with an iron, blood soaked fist). The system involves completely free play, but money can be exchanged for Funcom bucks that you can redeem in the in-game store for the best items and goodies for your character.

Also, be sure to log your character(s) in before July 21st to get a free cape. The press release from Funcom is below:

'Age of Conan: Unchained' has arrived, and with this we have changed the business model of the game! 'Age of Conan' offers an alternative to the Premium Membership: you can now enjoy the game free of charge!

This comes in addition to lots of new content (new dungeons, systems, render engine, optimizations and hardcore PvP server to list some) - so grasp your longsword and join us in Hyboria!

As part of the celebration, we are giving away a free item too! For each character you log in before the 21^st of July, you will unlock a brand new decorative cape!

With this we have also launched an in-game store that offers a wide variety of items to help you on your journeys through Hyboria! The store has items and services for all character levels.

 

You can get the Download Manager from our files section and get back into the world of Hyboria and execute some friends!

If the game's running slow or not in as good detail as it could be, be sure to check out our tweaking files as well as this is a pretty taxing game in full detail (which is the only way to play this game!).
