Infamous
System: PS3
Description:
From game developer Sucker Punch, creators of the award-winning Sly Cooper series, and publisher Sony comes inFAMOUS.
The first open-world title exclusively for the PlayStation 3, infamous is a single player action/adventure that places you in the role of once regular guy, Cole, who in the aftermath of a horrific catastrophe finds himself not only alive, but developing a fantastic array of superpowers.Going from ordinary to extraordinary overnight isn't something to take lightly. With these powers does one exact revenge? Protect the innocent? Or perhaps, dabble in a little of both? The choice is yours in Infamous.
|
Kaizen says:
Infamous is totally awesome; in fact I was so addicted to it that I ended up beating it after playing it straight for 2 days. Infamous 2 is Ă‚Â just around the corner so this is a must buy for anyone who hasn't played it already.
Chaotyx says:
Pretty epic and well done game for a sandbox! It's like Spiderman sans web and tights.

Red Dead Redemption
System: PS3, Xbox360
Description:
Red Dead Redemption is an open-world, third-person, action-adventure game set at the tail end of the American West West era. Action takes place in the first few years of the twentieth century and revolves around the choices that the protagonist, former outlaw John Marston, is forced to make due to his blemished past.
The game features a morality system assigning honor and fame points generated through the player's choices. It also features Wild West themed mini-games, new targeting and cover systems, extensive horse riding abilities, a wealth of period specific weapons and more than 40 huntable animals.
|
Kaizen says:
I gotta be honest with you, I had a hard time following the storyline in RDR, but that's mainly because there's so much to do! You can go gamble in shady saloons, start fights with literally anyone (even hookers), and basically unleash any nerd range you've had pent up in a matter of minutes. Now I'm not saying that I recommend you do those things, no no no, but let's face it, you will anyway. It's fun! This game has tons of replay value and hence I must award it the title of being a "must play".
Chaotyx says:
I loved the original PS2 game and now keep this as my mistress. Not only is this a solid all around good game, but it's basically my new Postal 2. Yes, it's Grand Theft Auto with horses, but take my word that's not a bad thing. Now instead of wrecking your car after gunning down some folk of questionable taste, you can instead ride your horse off a cliff after... then skin it. What the heck's wrong with you?! A-hem, ya, it's a pretty rad game for story play or just mindless sandbox fun.

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare
System: PS3, Xbox360
Description:
The Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Collection is a collection of three downloadable content (DLC) releases for the open world third-party shooter, Red Dead Redemption on a single PlayStation 3 disc.
A stand-alone release, meaning that the original Red Dead Redemption game is not necessary for play, the three DLC bundled here include: the Undead Nightmare Pack, the Liars and Cheats Pack and the Legends and Killers Pack. Together these three contain a new single player adventure featuring John Marston in a zombie-stomping storyline, hours of new gameplay, new multiplayer maps and play modes, new characters, mounts, new hunting opportunities and weapons.
|
Kaizen says:
I haven't played it yet, but it qualifies as another game I will be picking up this holiday season. Zombies + Red Dead Redemption = Win.
Chaotyx says:
I love the fact that zombies have gotten so big over the past few years. I also have yet to try this but the Red Dead formula is pretty tight, I can only imagine what throwing a horde of zombies in the mix will do. I wonder if you can skin them after?...

God of War 3
System: PS3
Description:
God of War III is a single player action game, exclusive to the PlayStation 3, and the final installment of the God of War trilogy.
Containing signature and addictive God of War gameplay — a combination of over-the-top action combat, exploration and puzzle-solving — along with an engrossing mythologically inspired storyline and a selection of new weapons and a new weapons system, it is a fitting conclusion to the much praised God of War franchise.
|
Kaizen says:
If you've ever played Heavenly Sword, Indigo Prophecy or the great "Heavy Rain", you'll feel right at home with the controls. It's a great test of reaction time and image association and overall, God of War 3 is a great game.
Chaotyx says:
How do you make a game epic? Like, really epic? Battle freaking Gods. A slash-em-up with boss battles of mammoth proportions and shiny pretty graphics. A must play for fans of the genre or series.

|
Heavy Rain
System: PS3
Description:
Heavy Rain is an interactive, single player, action adventure game in which every decision players make influences the evolution of a desperate quest to catch a deadly killer poised to strike again.
Featuring a complex and dark storyline meant for mature audiences, the game is a PlayStation 3 exclusive featuring a variety of possible endings, advanced crime scene analysis, replayable chapters, four playable characters and the ability to continue play as remaining characters in the event of your current character's death.
|
Kaizen says:
One of the best games ever made. Heavy Rain is a truly unique, incredible and immersive experience. It's like you're in a movie but then you forget it's a movie and it feels like real life.
Chaotyx says:
I never thought I'd see a game like Indigo Prophecy again, which is truly a fantastic and addicting game. This time around we go less Matrix and more Dexter. A beautifully crafted intertwining story with interesting characters and the reaction based control scheme I know and love. Plus, it's now Playstation Move compatible!

Burnout Paradise
System: PC, PS3, Xbox360
Description:
In Burnout Paradise players are treated to a rarity in the video games universe: a complete reinvention of an established franchise that equals, if not betters any of the previous games in the series. Yes, this is a large claim, but one that can be explained in a single phrase: Next-Gen Freedom.
|
Kaizen says:
Another game that has a solid foundation, but I find myself doing nothing but crashing the cars because the crashes are so freakin Epic. Download the demo and see what I mean. Either way, it's a really solid racing game, and the realistic damage is a nice change from the standard cookie-cutter "hit a lamp post at 90MPH and bounce off unscathed" scenario.
Chaotyx says:
Oddly enough the most enjoyable racing game I've played on the PS3. Why, upon reflection, is actually quite clear to me now; it's a sandbox racer! Don't feel like racing? Then just cruise around Paradise and make some wicked and ludicrous jumps, or see just how fast you can go to make a ridiculous crash to revel over in the slow-motion crash cam replay.

RockBand 3
System: DS. PS3, Wii, Xbox360
Description:
Rock Band 3 is the third main release in the iconic video game series that challenges gamers to live out their Rock & Roll fantasies together in a band situation, both locally and online.
The game features an ever expanding song list from every era of Rock & Roll history, easy to pick up yet challenging addictive Note Highway gameplay, compatibility with earlier releases in the series and all platform-specific instrument controllers including most Guitar Hero controllers, extreme in-game character and band customization, and a slew of new features.
These new features include: new setlist search functionality, the addition of 3-part harmonies and a keyboard peripheral and expanded play modes, including the advanced Pro Mode.
|
Kaizen says:
My interest in this series has been taken to new level. I knew a few years ago that if Harmonix taught people how to play real instruments in RockBand, they would be able to maintain the game's popularity and even more importantly, stay one step ahead of their competition. Well folks, it's here. If you play RockBand 3 on expert-pro mode you can now impress your family and friends and rock out on that piano or guitar for real.
Chaotyx says:
And drums! I'm an avid lover of the Rock Band series and drove across the border just to get my hands on my peripherals. I'm already dedicated to the series, but honestly, the addition of Pro-Mode with real instruments should make any rhythm game lover convert. The tracklist is solid and quite varied with tons of my favorites, plus with over 2000 songs now available it's the perfect party game.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
System: PS3
Description:
Follow-up game to 2007's critically acclaimed Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the PlayStation 3 exclusive Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a continuation of the adventures of Nathan Drake, a fortune-hunter with a shady reputation and an even shadier past.
Chock full of all the action, adventure, cinematic story elements and beautiful graphics that set the first game apart, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves adds deep online multiplayer options, including co-op and competitive campaigns, and a whole new supporting cast of characters, making it yet another must-have title for the PlayStation 3 platform.
|
Kaizen says:
This game is so much better than it's predecessor it's not even funny. That's saying a lot because the original Uncharted was a solid game in it's own right, but this is just a whole new experience. This was the first video review we ever did but the video ended up getting locked out for many lame reasons so it never got much exposure. Check out our Uncharted 2 Review on Youtube.
Chaotyx says:
You had me at sarcastic hero. But seriously, the game is damn sweet and pretty much a must play for PS3 owners. Wonderful graphics, fun gameplay and our douchebag protagonist.

I'm still blown away this game finally got released; it's practically the Duke Nukem Forever of racing. Plug in, turn on, buckle up and give 'er.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition
System: PC, PS3, Xbox360
Description:
Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a first-person shooter, and sequel to Electronic Arts' 2008 release, Battlefield Bad Company.
Following the continuing combat adventures of misfits of the US Army's Company "B," Bad Company 2 features the characteristic humor and grit of the Bad Company series, as well as a variety of gameplay improvements and additions, including 2-24 player online support; all-new four man squad gameplay; and more.
|
Kaizen says:
I’ve been playing this a ton lately. It’s one of the best Battlefield games of all time and much like its younger brother, Battlefield Bad Company, BFBC2 has a great single-player story. This game got really fun for me the second I jumped into a tank and drove it through the main floor of a building which in turn caused it fall down and bury my enemies inside. Epic Win.
Chaotyx says:
A super addicting multiplayer experience with RPG elements. The controls are surprisingly smooth given this is a first person shooter (which I tend to avoid on consoles) but it was quite easy to pick up and go with little to no adjustment. The single player is pretty good, but the multiplayer is just off-the-charts intense.

|
Medal of Honor
System: PC, PS3, Xbox360
Description:
Medal of Honor is a first-person shooter from the makers of Battlefield Bad Company 2 that redefines the genre. For shooter fans and modern military enthusiasts, Medal of Honor is a way to experience today's authentic warfare, because unlike anywhere else in the world of video games,
Medal of Honor can deliver intense modern warfare gameplay inspired by the actions of the elite Tier 1 Operators currently active in the military. Features include access to Tier 1 Ops and Army Ranger storylines, realistic weaponry and large-scale online multiplayer.
|
Kaizen says:
First there was “Medal of Honor”, then, Underground, then Allied Assault, Frontline, Rising Sun..Pacific Assault was in there somewhere too. What number is this one? I guess even the developer couldn’t keep track and decided to name the series exactly the same as the first game. Don’t let the title fool you though, this isn’t the MOH from 1999. The graphics are top notch and the game is pretty fun too
Chaotyx says:
Medal of Honor knows how to make a war game, which is why this is right up on my list with Black Ops for must-play games before the year ends

Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition
System: PC, PS3, Xbox360
Description:
Batman: Arkham Asylum is a single player, third-person action/adventure in which the Dark Knight is forced to take on his greatest challenge yet when he is trapped by arch rival, the Joker, within Gotham City's facility for the criminally insane, Arkham Asylum.
A blend of exciting arcade style combat and stealth mechanics packed with amazing graphics in a moody, immersive setting, Batman: Arkham Asylum offers diverse gameplay options that push the envelope for all action, adventure and superhero games.
|
Kaizen says:
This won my vote for the best game of 2009 and with Arkham Asylum 2 upcoming, this is an absolute must buy for Christmas 2010!
Chaotyx says:
One of the (if not the) best game I played all year. It's dark and gritty, it's the voice cast from my favorite animated series growing up, and it's combat system is seamlessly smooth. This is, I feel, the must play title of the year for PS3 owners.

I haven’t actually got around to playing this one yet, however it’s on the shelf and is looking like a pretty good option for the next game on the stack. Viva New Vegas.
Chaotyx says:
Happy travels on your journey to New Vegas. The latest installment in the Fallout franchise hot on the heels of the success of #3. It's fun, and it's addicting as all Hell. Set some time aside for this guy this Holiday!

I stood outside Best Buy at midnight on release day to get this title, so yes you can call me a fan. GTA4 is a great game with really good single player experience. I highly recommend picking this game up, tons of bang for your buck.
Chaotyx says:
Once you get the hang of the car handling GTAIV is a wonderfully fun experience. Not only is the game a solid play through, the sandbox factor is a total blast and will give you hours upon hours of entertainment. Make sure to get the copy that includes the two free additional episodes!

A bit different than the other Res games, this one includes a cooperative mode. Now you can slay zombies with your buddies outside of Left 4 Dead. Excellent!
Chaotyx says:
Co-op is one of my favorite things to do in gaming, and I'm ecstatic that the Resident Evil series has provided me with that option. It's Resident Evil so you know it's going to be a zombtastic good time.
